Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Emerald Green Energy Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past, prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2025

As this is the first time Emerald Green Energy has calculated its carbon emissions, there is no historic baseline data available for comparison. Therefore, 2025 has been established as the baseline year.

Scope 3 emissions have been estimated based on currently available information and may be refined in future reporting periods as data collection processes improve.

The organisation is committed to improving the accuracy and completeness of its emissions data over time, including expanding the scope and quality of Scope 3 reporting.

Baseline year emissions (2025)
EmissionsTotal (tCO₂e)
Scope 112.50
Scope 26.00
Scope 3 (Included Sources)38.00
Total Emissions56.50

Included Scope 3 sources: business travel, employee commuting, waste generated in operations, upstream transportation and distribution, and downstream transportation and distribution.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress towards Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next ten years to 39.50 tCO₂e by 2035. This represents a reduction of approximately 30% against the 2025 baseline.

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

As this is the first year of carbon reporting for the organisation, no measurable emissions reductions have yet been formally recorded against the 2025 baseline. However, a number of carbon reduction measures are already in place and will contribute to future emissions reductions:

  • Adoption of energy efficient practices within the company office, including LED lighting and responsible energy consumption policies.
  • Implementation of hybrid and remote working practices to reduce employee commuting and business travel.
  • Reduction in paper usage through digitalisation of administrative and operational processes.
  • Efficient route planning and operational scheduling to minimise fuel consumption across company vehicles.
  • Delivery of retrofit and energy efficiency measures to domestic properties through ECO4, GBIS and renewable installation programmes, contributing to wider carbon reduction across the built environment.

Future measures

  • Transition of the company vehicle fleet towards low emission or electric vehicles.
  • Improved monitoring and reporting of energy use and carbon emissions across all business activities.
  • Engagement with suppliers and subcontractors to encourage low carbon practices within the supply chain.
  • Continued expansion of retrofit and renewable installation activities, supporting national decarbonisation targets.
  • Exploration of formal environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.

Declaration and sign off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard, using the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
