External Wall Insulation (EWI) is fitted to the outside of a property's solid walls. Insulation boards are fixed to the existing wall, reinforced with mesh, and finished with a weatherproof render or cladding system. Because the work happens outside, internal rooms keep their full dimensions and day-to-day life inside is minimally disrupted. EWI is especially well suited to older, pre-1920s homes that lose significant heat through uninsulated solid walls.
